DevOps

DevOps connects development and operations so that a team can deliver software and learn from how it behaves in use. It combines shared responsibility, repeatable processes, and supporting tools.

From a Change to a Running Service

A typical flow includes version control, automated build and test checks, a controlled deployment, and observation of the running application. Production feedback then informs the next change.
CI checks changes as they are integrated. Continuous delivery keeps software ready for a release decision; continuous deployment automatically releases changes that pass the required checks. These describe different levels of automation.

Reliability Matters

A pipeline that deploys quickly is not enough if nobody knows how to detect or recover from a bad release. Define ownership, monitor useful signals, and prepare a rollback or recovery plan that fits the application and its data changes.
DevOps is not simply a job title or the installation of a CI tool. Development, delivery, and operation need a feedback loop with clear responsibilities.
